"Seeking to be a caring, relevant and Jesus focused community for all."

Meet the team

THE PASTOR:
I'm Peter. I am the Minister here at the church. I lead the services on most Sundays. I love to chat to people about life, the universe and everything!

I became a Christian in my first year at University after many years believing that the Bible was a fairytale and that Christianity was a crutch for the weak. I've since discovered a very different story and have been amazed at the difference Jesus has made to my life.

I love doughnuts, films and playing in bands. I also help run the local film club.

THE TREASURER:

Rita Edwards (info to follow)

THE SECRETARY:
I am married with three children. I have attended this church since childhood, breaking only whilst doing my nurses training and early married years.
THE DEACONS:
They are all regular members of our congregation. We meet once a month to discuss the life of the church and to ensure the smooth running of our activities. When important leadership decisions are required the deacons (also known as the 'diaconate') make recommendations to the 'Church Members', who then have the final say.
KOJO ABUAKU-ADDAI:

REX DEVADASON:
I am Rex. I was born in Sri-Lanka and came to the U.K in 1975.  I did my adult and psychiatric nursing before retiring due to ill health.  I love to socialise with people.  I was born to a devout christian family and gave my life to his call when I was 14 years old.  I am privileged to be born into a devout christian family.  I always put my trust in the Lord even though life sometimes becomes challenging.

I love cricket and play the game and watch whenever time permits. I also love gardening and helping with the house chores.  I love singing and playing the mouth organ.  I am very much involved in the old boys association of my old school.  I am actively involved in fund raising to help my old school to fund various projects i.e. providing scholarship for poor able academic and talented sportsman to fulfil their potential.

I love Cadburys chocolates.

JOAN THOMAS:
My Christian journey started as a child at the Salvation Army when I gave my first commitment to God. I am sure that I did not fully understand who God & Jesus were; I just knew they were an important part of my life and I wanted to know them better. My journey has continued with times of closeness to them and times when I have been distant. I know that I am loved at all times by an ever present, all seeing, all loving creator and sustaining God and have a personal relationship with my Saviour, Jesus Christ.

I am married with one son and am part of a large family, all of whom are important to me.

I work part time in the library and when I have time I love to read.

I also enjoy watching television and films and one of my favourite films is To Sir with Love. This re-enforces my belief that all young people are valuable and with the correct encouragement can achieve something in life.

I love sweet things to eat, especially chocolate!

THE CHURCH MEMBERS:
In a Baptist church all major decisions are made by the church members. Some of the congregation members on the left have taken a more involved role in the life of the church. For more about how you can become a member click on the Articles and Information on the left.
